On Sunday, Nov 25th, the volunteers and spouses of Chaverim Chicago, a project of The Chicago Center, were treated to a Member Appreciation Dinner.  Chaverim Chicago, celebrating 10 years, is led by Rabbi Yale Ray, Mr. Dovid Ray, and Rabbi Simcha Adelman. Yale Ray spoke about the history and thanked each and every volunteer and their wives.  Simcha Adelman thanked Yale for being the backbone of the organization. Rabbi Efraim Twersky personally thanked the members and the organization because he and his wife had personally benefitted from Chaverim Chicago.  He continued to give over a story of Rav Moshe Halberstam, a Rov in Yerushalayim. After he was niftar he came to his son in a dream and said that there was nothing more important in Shomayim than a Yid doing a chesed for someone.

Over the past 10 years, Chaverim has responded to over 9,000 calls.  The amount of dedication and chesed is tremendous. Each member has responded to calls in the cold, dark and rainy weather.  Each time with a willingness to help a fellow Jew and each time with a smile. The Chicago community is very fortunate to have such a wonderful organization.
