On November 28th, the YU Torah Mitzion Kollel was privileged to host Rabbi Eli Samber, principal of Arie Crown Hebrew Day School, and Rabbi Menachem Linzer, principal of Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School, for an evening of discussion on parenting as Torah Jews at the Skokie Public Library. Entitled “Building a Strong Foundation for our Children,” the discussion covered a wide range of topics including technology and Tefillah subjects before a packed room of community members representing both schools as well as the general community. Rabbi Reuven Brand, Rosh Kollel, introduced and facilitated the panel and explained the subject for the evening. Rabbi Samber began by speaking about the importance of a high self-esteem in children and ways parents can help to maintain it. Rabbi Linzer focused on ways parents can help their children use technology in a safe manner. Several members of the audience asked questions related to the topics at hand, and the discussion concluded with reflections on cultivating Emunah within our children. The entire conversation is available on the Kollel website: www.TorahChicago.org.
