Yes, there were lots of other people in the park during Chai Lifeline’s annual Joan and Shael Bellows Family Day at Great America. But for the thirty families who came for a day of fun and relaxation, it seemed like there was no one else but their Chai Lifeline friends.
Our families were treated like VIPs throughout the day. Sure, there were rides and shows and attractions. But no other park visitors had counselors on hand to accompany kids on the tallest and scariest roller coasters. And certainly, no one outside the Chai Lifeline family had the amazing gourmet lunch in a private area. While they ate, parents had a chance to renew friendships and talk to the Chai Lifeline staff members.
All in all, it was a day of endless laughter, smiles, and fun. It was just what the doctor ordered: a day where illness retreated and families celebrated the simple joy of a carefree day in the park
