After months of meticulous planning, designing, and preparation, Chicago Jewish Funerals finally commissioned their 48kW solar energy system on their Skokie Illinois location, becoming the first Jewish funeral home in the Midwest to go solar.

Founder of Chicago Jewish Funerals, David Jacobson, has sent a strong statement by transitioning his business to renewable energy and powering his business with the sun.  “I believe operating Chicago Jewish Funerals with renewable energy is the right thing to do and is in alignment with our values and mission.  It’s the future of energy,” says Jacobson.

The system consists of over 160 solar modules and offsets more electricity than seven large sized homes.  This is the environmental equivalent of planting roughly 50 acres of trees every year.  50,000 pounds worth of carbon will be eliminated from the atmosphere each year the system is in operation, as well.  Even after 25 years, the system will be operating at 80% of its rated capacity, producing decades worth of clean energy.

By installing a solar energy system, Chicago Jewish Funerals is not only greening their operation, but they’re supporting a budding industry in the Chicagoland area which is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.  Jacobson chose Windfree Solar as the solar contractor for their project.  Windfree has been in the solar business for nearly ten years and has over 310 installations throughout the Chicagoland area.

Businesses are increasingly seeking ways to green their operations, offset carbon emissions, help conserve non-renewable energy sources, and gain energy independence from utility companies.  Chicago Jewish Funerals is helping lead that way towards a greener more independent future with their innovative new solar energy system.  Brighter days are on the way, thanks to companies like this.
