On Sunday, August 12th, Congregations KINS, KJBS, Adas Yeshurun and Kehilat Chovevei Tzion joined together for the 1st Annual Cross-Canal Shul Softball Tournament and family BBQ at Central Park in Skokie. In addition to softball, the event included an all-you-can-eat BBQ, moon bounces, snow cones, children’s games and more. The softball tournament included a team from each synagogue. In the first round, Team KINS beat Team KJBS, and Team Yeshurun beat Team KCT. Team Yeshurun beat Team KINS in the championship game to take home bragging rights as the winner of this year’s tournament.
The event committee, led by Rabbi Reuven Gottesman and Daniel Peikes, included members from each synagogue. The event provided an opportunity for the members of the various synagogues to get together for a fun and social afternoon. With beautiful weather, competitive softball games, delicious food and fun activities, the event was considered to be resounding success by everyone who attended – a great time was had by all!
