How many CPA’s does it take to change a (tulip) bulb?

Libenu’s residential homes in Skokie and Chicago had some extra special guests who planted flowers and built Sukkot as part of the “CPA Day of Service,” an annual event for certified public accountants to volunteer in the community. This year, employees of Mann Weitz Associates of Deerfield, Illinois, chose to volunteer at Libenu and Libenu was thrilled to give them a meaningful way to give back.

Volunteers were taken on a tour of the beautiful new Libenu women’s residence in Skokie. They helped us prepare for the holiday and for many it was their first Sukkah-building experience. The volunteers learned about the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and how Libenu homes have been transformative for the residents. Mann Weitz volunteers also learned about the unique challenges facing Libenu as the premier provider of kosher residences for Jewish adults in Chicago.

Libenu thanks all of the volunteers who made an immediate, impactful difference for our residents.  See you next year!

Libenu is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization that works to address a critical shortage of community-based, person-centered services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Chicago North Shore community. Libenu’s mission is to provide residential, vocational, and respite opportunities that enable people with disabilities to live their best lives, with dignity and respect, as fully included members of the Jewish community. Libenu, from the Hebrew word meaning “Our Hearts,” reflects our heartfelt commitment to making the world a better place for people with disabilities, their families, and the community.
