The release of the Ravinia concert schedule is an exciting time for native Chicagoans. For those not familiar, the Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States, and is located in Highland Park. It holds outdoor concerts from June until September. Ravinia is known for their lawn seats, where family and friends can gather together for a picnic on the lawn with their own food, drinks, chairs, and blankets.
This year, the line up consists of many popular mainstream artists such as Seal, Bryan Adams, The Beach Boys, Tony Bennett, and more. Unfortunately, though, their shows are either on Friday night or Saturday night.
This year’s Ravinia lineup came with a great surprise, though. As a treat to his fans (who wouldn’t normally attend a Friday night show), Matisyahu is performing at Ravinia on a Thursday night along with Stephen Marley. The singer, famously known for his hit “One Day,” blends Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock, and hip hop to make for some great alternative rock music.
