In an emotional encounter on Monday afternoon, members of Israel’s Olympic Baseball Team, went to Sheba Medical Center’s rehabilitation hospital in Ramat Gan, where they visited Ephraim Rimel, an American-Israeli citizen who survived a horrifying car accident near Jerusalem in which his wife and one of his children was killed. Rimel told Eric Holtz (left) and several of the players, “They take good care of me here at Sheba, but this visit is the best medicine I can get since I’m a lifelong baseball fan, who went to games in Chicago before I made aliyah.” Coach Holtz and the players, presented Rimel with a team pin and wished him and his son, who is also at Sheba, a speedy recovery.
