The 2019 Chicago Chesed Fund StepUp Event that took place this Mother’s Day, May 12th, truly exceeded expectations. The StepUp Tower Run yielded an incredible turnout, with dozens of Chicago women showing a tremendous outpouring of support to those struggling to create a family. The atmosphere was upbeat and electric, as the women raced up 574 steps to the top of the Echelon Building in downtown Chicago. The sense of achdus was palpable, as the community came together to raise funds for fertility treatments, in the hopes that there will be more mothers to celebrate Mother’s Day next year.  As the perfect follow-up to the climb, the organizers set up an exclusive climbers after-party, complete with a juice bar, photo booth, snacks, and other refreshments. The exhilarated participants laughed, talked, and compared experiences, creating the perfect end to a perfect day.

Congratulations to our winners: Elisheva Polstein finishing first with a time of 4 minutes and 12 seconds, Elana Kibel in second place finishing in 4 minutes and 13 seconds and Mandy Rubin in third place finishing in 4 minutes and 19 seconds!

A heartfelt thank you to Crescent Heights for their generosity in allowing StepUp to use the Echelon Tower for the event, and to all of the residents of the building for their support. And of course, the event would not have been possible without our dedicated committee members — Tziporah Gelman, Elisheva Meystel, Shoshana Moskowitz, Goldie Rebel, Sara Reifer, Melissa Shabat, and Mindi Zissman— and of course, all of our event sponsors who made this idea a reality.

A great turnout and an upbeat, energetic atmosphere, coupled with a single-minded dedication to the cause, made the event a resounding success. A huge thanks to all those who participated!
